कबीरदास (Kabir Das)
1. करता था सो क्यों किया , अब कर क्यों पछिताय ।
बोया पेड़ बबूल का , आम कहाँ से खाय | |
Saint Kabir says – People repent later for doing wrong things. You cannot earn a good name by doing wrong things. How can you eat mangoes if you grow acacia tree ? Therefore, before doing any work one should do it consciously.
2. कस्तूरी कुंडल बसे , मृग ढूंढे बन माँहिं ।
ऐसे घटि – घटि राम है , दुनिया देखै नाहिं । ।
Kabirdas says – Just as the musk deer looks outside the fragrance coming from its navel, a man also looks outside without recognizing the God inside him.
3. न्हाये धोये क्या हुआ , जो मन मैल न जाय ।
मीन सदा जल में रहै , धोये बास न जाय । ।
Kabirdas says – Just as the fish in the water does not fade even after washing it, in the same way, the dirt in the mind does not disappear by taking a bath.
4. गुरु गोविंद दोऊ खड़े , काके लागौं पाँय ।
बलिहारी गुरु आपने , गोविंद दियो बताय ।
Kabirdas says through this couplet that what is the importance of Guru in life? It is the Guru who has explained to us the importance of God and brought it to God. Therefore, Guru’s place is always first in this world.
तुलसीदास (Tulsidas)
1. काम क्रोध मद लोभ की जौ लौं मन में खान ।
तौ लौं पंडित मूरखौं तुलसी एक समान । ।
Tulsidasji says that as long as the mind of the person is full of work, anger, ego and greed, there is no difference between a knowledgeable person and a foolish person, both are the same. Therefore, bad feelings should be removed from the mind.
2.आवत ही हरषै नहीं नैनन नहीं सनेह ।
तुलसी तहां न जाइये कंचन बरसे मेह । ।
Tulsidas ji says that the house in which people do not have happiness in their mind and affection in their eyes, we should not go even if there is a rain of money in their house.
