I. “मंथरा का षड्यंत्र” पाठ का सारांश लिखिए :- (Write the summary of the lesson “Manthara’s Conspiracy”)
Manthara ka Shadyantra Saransh
कैकेयी दशरथ की छोटी रानी थी । दशरथ अपनी छोटी रानी को बहुत प्यार करते थे । मंथरा कैकेयी की प्यारी दासी थी । मंथरा कूबड़ और कुटिल स्वभाव की थी । राजतिलक की तैयारी की बात सुनकर मंथरा ईर्ष्या करने लगी । वह सीधे कैकेयी के पास गयी और बोली – “रानी, राम राजा बनेगा तो उसकी माता कौशल्या राजमाता बनेगी और तुम उसकी दासी । तुम्हारा लाड़ला पुत्र भरत, राम का गुलाम बनेगा । क्या यही तुम चाहती हो?”
Kaikeyi was the youngest queen of Dasharatha. Dasharatha loved his youngest queen very much. Manthara was Kaikeyi’s favorite maid. Manthara was a hunchback and had a cunning nature. Upon hearing about the coronation preparations, Manthara became envious. She went straight to Kaikeyi and said – “Queen, if Ram becomes King, his mother Kaushalya will become the Queen Mother and you her maid. Your beloved son Bharat will become Ram’s slave. Is this what you want?”
कैकेयी मंथरा की बात सुनकर पहले गुस्से में आयी । लेकिन उसका जादू कैकेयी पर चल गया । उसने अपने पुत्र को युवराज पद दिलाने का उपाय पूछा । मंथरा ने कहा – “एक बार राजा दशरथ ने तुमको दो वर देने का वादा किया था । अब तुम महाराजा से दोनों वर माँगो । एक वर से राम के लिए चौदह साल का वनवास, दूसरे से भरत का राजतिलक माँगो।”
Hearing Manthara’s words, Kaikeyi initially became angry. However, Manthara’s “spell” worked on Kaikeyi. She asked for a way to secure the position of crown prince for her son. Manthara said – “Once King Dasharatha had promised to give you two boons. Now ask for both boons from the Maharaja. With one boon, ask for fourteen years of exile for Ram, and with the second, ask for the coronation of Bharat.”
कैकेयी ने गंदी साड़ी पहन ली । सारे आभूषण उतार दिये । गुस्से में महाराज दशरथ के आने की प्रतीक्षा करने लगी ।
Kaikeyi put on a dirty saree. She took off all her ornaments. In anger, she began waiting for the arrival of Maharaj Dasharatha.
II. प्रश्नों के उत्तर दीजिए :- (Answer the questions)
(1) मंथरा कौन थी? वह कैसी थी? (Who was Manthara? How was she?)
उत्तर : मंथरा कैकेयी की प्यारी दासी थी । वह कूबड़ और कुटिल स्वभाव की थी ।
Answer : Manthara was Kaikeyi’s favorite maid. She was a hunchback and had a cunning nature.
(2) मंथरा ने कैकेयी से क्या वर माँगने के लिए कहा? (What boons did Manthara tell Kaikeyi to ask for?)
उत्तर : मंथरा ने कैकेयी से कहा- “एक वर से राम के लिए चौदह साल का वनवास और दूसरे वर से भरत का राजतिलक माँगो।”
Answer : Manthara told Kaikeyi— “Ask for fourteen years of exile for Ram with one boon and the coronation of Bharat with the other.”
