I. निम्नलिखित प्रश्नों का उत्तर लिखिए :- (Write the answers to the following questions)
1. भगीरथ का कुल और गुण के बारे में लिखिए। (Write about Bhagirath’s lineage and qualities.)
उत्तर : भगीरथ इक्षवाकु कुल के सूर्यवंशी राजा थे। वे सत्यनिष्ठ, धर्मनिष्ठ और बड़े प्रतापी राजा थे। उनमें अपार धैर्य और साहस था।
Answer : Bhagirath was a Suryavanshi king of the Ikshvaku lineage. He was a truthful, pious, and very majestic king. He possessed immense patience and courage.
2. धर्मराज ने भगीरथ से क्या कहा? (What did Dharmaraj say to Bhagirath?)
उत्तर : धर्मराज ने कहा कि, भगीरथ के पूर्वज सगर पुत्र भस्म के रूप में पड़े हैं; उनका उद्धार करने के लिए भगीरथ तपस्या करें और गंगाजी को पृथ्वी पर ले आएँ।
Answer : Dharmaraj said that Bhagirath’s ancestors, the sons of Sagar, lie in the form of ashes; to liberate them, Bhagirath should perform penance and bring the Ganges to Earth.
3. भगवान विष्णु ने भगीरथ से क्या कहा? (What did Lord Vishnu say to Bhagirath?)
उत्तर : भगवान विष्णु भगीरथ के सामने प्रकट हुए और बोले, ‘तुम्हारी तपस्या अवश्य सफल होगी और तुम अब भगवान शिव का ध्यान करते हुए तप करो’।
Answer : Lord Vishnu appeared before Bhagirath and said, ‘Your penance will surely be successful, and now you should perform penance while meditating on Lord Shiva’.
4. भगवान शंकर से भगीरथ ने क्या माँगा? (What did Bhagirath ask from Lord Shankar?)
उत्तर : भगवान शंकर से भगीरथ ने प्रार्थना की, ‘मेरे पितरों की मुक्ति के लिए आप गंगा माता को पृथ्वी पर प्रवाहित करवा दीजिए।
Answer : Bhagirath prayed to Lord Shankar, ‘For the salvation of my ancestors, please allow Mother Ganges to flow upon the Earth.’
5. गंगा धरती पर कहाँ तक आयीं? (How far did the Ganges come on Earth?)
उत्तर : पवित्र गंगा भगीरथ के पीछे पीछे चलती हुई उस स्थान पर पहुँची जहाँ सगर राजकुमार भस्म के रूप में पड़े हुए थे।
Answer : The holy Ganges, following behind Bhagirath, reached the place where the princes of Sagar lay in the form of ashes.
II. “भगीरथ की तपस्या” कहानी का सारांश लिखिए :- (Write the summary of the story “Bhagirath’s Penance”)
Bhagirath ki Tapasya Saransh
भगीरथ इक्षवाकु कुल के सूर्यवंशी राजा थे। वे सत्यनिष्ठ, धर्मनिष्ठ और बड़े प्रतापी राजा थे। उनमें अपार धैर्य और साहस था। एक बार धर्मराज भगीरथ से मिलने आये थे। राजा के आदर सत्कार से खुश होकर कहा, “आपके पूर्वज सगर पुत्र भस्म के रूप में पड़े हैं। उनका उद्धार करने के लिए आप तपस्या कीजिए और गंगा को पृथ्वी पर ले आइए।” यह सुनकर भगीरथ हिमालय पहुँचे और भगवान विष्णु का ध्यान करते हुए तपस्या करने लगे। विष्णु भगवान प्रकट हुए और बोले, ‘तुम्हारी तपस्या अवश्य सफल होगी और तुम अब भगवान शिव का ध्यान करते हुए तप करो’।
Bhagirath was a Suryavanshi king of the Ikshvaku lineage. He was truthful, pious, and a very majestic king. He possessed immense patience and courage. Once Dharmaraj came to meet Bhagirath. Pleased with the king’s hospitality, he said, “Your ancestors, the sons of Sagar, lie in the form of ashes. To liberate them, perform penance and bring the Ganges to Earth.” Hearing this, Bhagirath reached the Himalayas and began performing penance while meditating on Lord Vishnu. Lord Vishnu appeared and said, ‘Your penance will surely be successful, and now you perform penance while meditating on Lord Shiva’.
भगीरथ अब शिवजी का ध्यान करते हुए तपस्या करने लगे। शिवजी उनकी तपस्या से खुश होकर प्रकट हुए। भगवान शंकर से भगीरथ ने प्रार्थना की, ‘मेरे पितरों की मुक्ति के लिए आप गंगा माता को पृथ्वी पर प्रवाहित करवा दीजिए। भगवान शंकर ने उनकी प्रार्थना स्वीकार की। देवगंगा पृथ्वी पर उतर आई। उसकी प्रवाह के वेग को शिवजी ने अपने सिर पर ले लिया। फिर गंगा भगीरथ के पीछे पीछे चलती हुई उस स्थान पर पहुँची जहाँ सगर राजकुमार भस्म के रूप में पड़े हुए थे। पवित्र गंगा के स्पर्श से सभी सगर राजकुमार शाप से मुक्त हुए और विष्णु लोक पहुँचे। आज तक गंगा भारत को सुख पहुँचा रही है।
Bhagirath then started performing penance while meditating on Shivji. Pleased with his penance, Shivji appeared. Bhagirath prayed to Lord Shankar, ‘For the salvation of my ancestors, please let Mother Ganges flow on the Earth.’ Lord Shankar accepted his prayer. The celestial Ganges descended to Earth. Shivji took the force of its flow upon his head. Then, following behind Bhagirath, the Ganges reached the place where the princes of Sagar lay in the form of ashes. With the touch of the holy Ganges, all the princes of Sagar were freed from the curse and reached Vishnu-lok. To this day, the Ganges continues to bring happiness to India.
