I. निम्नलिखित प्रश्नों का उत्तर लिखिए :- (Write the answers to the following questions)
1. बापूजी ने किसके लिए अनशन किया? (For whom did Bapuji fast?)
उत्तर : बापूजी ने हरिजन-उद्धार के लिए अनशन किया।
Answer : Bapuji fasted for the upliftment of Harijans.
2. हरिजन लड़के का नाम क्या है? (What is the name of the Harijan boy?)
उत्तर : हरिजन लड़के का नाम विठोबा है।
Answer : The name of the Harijan boy is Vithoba.
3. विठोबा ने एक रुपये में कितने संतरे खरीदे? (How many oranges did Vithoba buy for one rupee?)
उत्तर : विठोबा ने एक रुपये में चार सूखे संतरे खरीदे।
Answer : Vithoba bought four dry oranges for one rupee.
4. बापूजी ने किसके संतरे से उपवास तोड़ा? (With whose orange did Bapuji break his fast?)
उत्तर : बापूजी ने विठोबा के लाये संतरे से व्रत तोड़ा।
Answer : Bapuji broke his fast with the orange brought by Vithoba.
II. “सूखे संतरे” कहानी का सारांश लिखिए :- (Write the summary of the story “Dry Oranges”)

बापूजी ने एक बार हरिजन-उद्धार के लिए अनशन किया था। उपवास करते समय उन्होंने एक हरिजन लड़के से कहा कि वे उसके लाये संतरे से ही व्रत तोड़ेंगे। विठोबा किसी से यह बात कहता था तो वह हँसने लगता था। पर वह तनकर बोला कि बापू मेरे ही संतरों का रस पियेंगे। वह हरिजन बालक विठोबा उसी दिन से पैसे इकट्ठे करने लगा और मेहनत करके एक रुपया बचाया। उसने सोचा कि चार संतरे मिल जाएँगे तो बापूजी के लिए काफ़ी होंगे। बड़े-बड़े और ताज़े-ताज़े संतरे महँगे थे। विठोबा को पहली बार अपनी गरीबी पर दुख हुआ। वह एक गरीब फलवाले के पास गया। फलावाले ने अपने छोटे-छोटे सूखे संतरे दिखाकर कहा कि ये चार संतरे एक रुपया है। विठोबा ने खुश होकर संतरे लिये और जल्दी जाने लगा।
Bapuji once went on a fast for the upliftment of Harijans. While fasting, he told a Harijan boy that he would break his fast only with the orange brought by him. When Vithoba told this to anyone, they would start laughing. But he said firmly that Bapu would drink the juice of his oranges only. From that day, the Harijan boy Vithoba started collecting money and saved one rupee by working hard. He thought that if he could get four oranges, they would be enough for Bapuji. Big and fresh oranges were expensive. Vithoba felt sad about his poverty for the first time. He went to a poor fruit seller. The fruit seller showed his small dry oranges and said that these four oranges are for one rupee. Vithoba happily took the oranges and started going quickly.
बापूजी के व्रत तोड़ने का समय हो रहा था। सब लोग उनकी जीवन रक्षा के लिए प्रार्थना कर रहे थे। बड़े-बड़े लोगों ने अपने संतरों से बापू के व्रत तुड़वाने के लिए टोकरे भर-भर कर संतरे भेजे थे। पर बापूजी ने कहा कि वे विठोबा के लाये संतरे से ही व्रत तोड़ेंगे। विठोबा की खोज होने लगी। विठोबा दौड़कर आया और एक सूखा संतरा बापूजी को भेंट किया। उसी सूखे संतरे का रस पीकर संसार के सबसे बड़े महापुरुष ने उपवास तोड़ा।
The time for Bapuji to break his fast was approaching. Everyone was praying for his life. Important people had sent baskets full of oranges to have Bapu break his fast with their oranges. But Bapuji said that he would break his fast only with the orange brought by Vithoba. The search for Vithoba began. Vithoba came running and presented a dry orange to Bapuji. By drinking the juice of that same dry orange, the world’s greatest man broke his fast.
