IV. निम्नलिखित शब्दों का वाक्यों में प्रयोग कीजिए :- (Use the following words in sentences)

वेला – सूर्यादय का समय ही हर एक के जागने की वेला है।
Time – Sunrise is the time for everyone to awaken.
भाग्यवती – सिद्धार्थ की पत्नी यशोधरा भाग्यवती थी।
Fortunate – Siddharth’s wife Yashodhara was fortunate.
खोजना – सिद्धार्थ मुक्ति का मार्ग खोजने जा रहे थे।
To search – Siddharth was going to search for the path of liberation.
भिक्षा – सिद्धार्थ सेवक छंदक से पहली भिक्षा माँगते हैं।
Alms – Siddharth asks for the first alms from the servant Chhandak.
प्रतीक्षा – सेवक छंदक कपिलवस्तु की ओर वापस जाने की प्रतीक्षा में रहा।

V. निम्नलिखित गद्यांश के आधार पर प्रश्नों का उत्तर एक या दो वाक्यों में लिखिए :- (Answer the following questions in one or two sentences based on the passage)

सिद्धार्थ : मैं भिक्षुक हूँ, तुम्हीं से पहली भिक्षा माँगता हूँ।
छंदक : (रोते हुए) यह क्या कह रहे हैं, महाराज?
सिद्धार्थ : मुझे महाराज न कहो, छंदक। नदी से जल लाकर मेरे ये राजसी केश काट दो।
छंदक : प्रभु! यह नहीं होने का, कभी…..
सिद्धार्थ : तुम्हारे मना करने पर भी ये कटेंगे अवश्य ही। फिर तुम्हीं क्यों नहीं काट देते? (छंदक उनके बाल काट देता है।)
सिद्धार्थ : (प्रसन्न होकर) जाओ, छंदक, तुम्हारा कल्याण हो। अब तुम जाओ।
छंदक : प्रभु, लौट चलिए।
सिद्धार्थ : जाओ छंदक! अब देर न करो, जाओ।
(छंदक रोते हुए दोनों घोड़ों को लेकर नदी पार कर जाता है।)
सिद्धार्थ : (स्वयं से) सिद्धार्थ! उठो! और आगे बढ़ो! चारों दिशाएँ तुम्हारी प्रतीक्षा कर रही हैं। जब तक निर्वाण का पथ न मिले, चलते चलो, चलते चलो…..।

Siddharth: I am a mendicant; I ask the first alms from you.
Chhandak: (weeping) What are you saying, my lord?
Siddharth: Do not call me “lord”, Chhandak. Bring water from the river and cut these royal locks of mine.
Chhandak: Lord! This can never happen…..
Siddharth: Even if you refuse, they will certainly be cut. Then why don’t you cut them yourself? (Chhandak cuts his hair.)
Siddharth: (happily) Go, Chhandak, may your welfare be ensured. Now you go.
Chhandak: Lord, please return.
Siddharth: Go, Chhandak! Do not delay now, go.
(Weeping, Chhandak takes both horses and crosses the river.)
Siddharth: (to himself) Siddharth! Get up! And move ahead! All four directions are waiting for you. Until the path to nirvana is found, keep walking, keep walking…..

1. सिद्धार्थ ने पहली भिक्षा किससे माँगी? (From whom did Siddharth ask for the first alms?)
उत्तर : सिद्धार्थ ने पहली भिक्षा छंदक से माँगी।
Answer : Siddharth asked for the first alms from Chhandak.

2. सिद्धार्थ ने छंदक से क्या करने के लिए कहा? (What did Siddharth ask Chhandak to do?)
उत्तर : सिद्धार्थ ने छंदक से नदी से जल लाकर उनके राजसी केश काटने के लिए कहा।
Answer : Siddharth asked Chhandak to bring water from the river and cut his royal hair.

3. सिद्धार्थ ने अपने आपसे क्या कहा? (What did Siddharth say to himself?)
उत्तर : सिद्धार्थ ने अपने आपसे कहा – आगे बढ़ो! चारों दिशाएँ तुम्हारी प्रतीक्षा कर रही हैं। जब तक निर्वाण का पथ न मिले, चलते चलो, चलते चलो…..।

VI. निम्नलिखित प्रश्नों के उत्तर पाँच-पाँच वाक्यों में दीजिए :- (Answer the following questions in about five sentences)

1. सिद्धार्थ ने गृह त्याग के पहले यशोधरा से कैसी बातें कीं? (What did Siddharth say to Yashodhara before renouncing the household?)

उत्तर : जीवन के मूल तत्व खोजने हेतु सिद्धार्थ आधी रात को राजमहल से बाहर निकलते हैं। जाने से पहले वे अपनी पत्नी यशोधरा से गूढ़ भरी बातें करते हैं। जब यशोधरा पूछती है कि रात को इतनी देर तक क्यों जागे हुए हैं तो वे कहते हैं कि उन्हें जागने का समय आ गया है। आगे यह भी कहते हैं कि उन्हें शेष लोगों को जगाने का जिम्मा भी है। ऐसी बातें करके वे जाने लगते हैं।

Answer : To search for the basic elements of life, Siddharth leaves the palace at midnight. Before going, he has deep and serious conversations with his wife Yashodhara. When Yashodhara asks why he is awake so late at night, he says that his time to awaken has come. He adds that he also has the responsibility to awaken others. Saying such things, he prepares to leave.

2. कपिलवस्तु की सीमा पर सेवक छंदक और सिद्धार्थ के बीच संपन्न संवाद को संक्षेप में लिखिए :- (Briefly write the conversation between servant Chhandak and Siddharth at the boundary of Kapilvastu.)

उत्तर : कपिलवस्तु की सीमा पर पहुँचने के बाद छंदक कहता है कि अब लौटने का समय हो गया है। तब सिद्धार्थ जवाब देते हैं कि अब वे लौटनेवाले नहीं हैं। वे अपने राजसी वस्त्रों को उतारकर छंदक के पास देते हैं। छंदक से कहते हैं कि आगे से वे किसी का भी प्रभु या राजा नहीं हैं। उसी स्थान पर भिक्षुक बनकर रहने लगते हैं। सेवक छंदक से अपनी पहली भिक्षा माँगते हैं।

Answer : After reaching the boundary of Kapilvastu, Chhandak says that it is time to return. Siddharth replies that he will not return now. He removes his royal garments and gives them to Chhandak. He tells Chhandak that from now on he is neither anyone’s lord nor king. He begins to remain there as a mendicant. He asks for his first alms from the servant Chhandak.

VII. “सिद्धार्थ का गृह त्याग” पाठ का सारांश लिखिए :- (Write the summary of the lesson “Siddharth ka Grah Tyag”)

शुद्धोदन कपिलवस्तु के राजा थे। सिद्धार्थ उनके पुत्र थे। यशोधरा सिद्धार्थ की पत्नी थी और राहुल उनका बेटा था। सिद्धार्थ को अपनी सारथी छंदक द्वारा यह पता चला है कि बुढ़ापा, रोग, मरण आदि प्राकृतिक नियमों से कोई बच नहीं सकता। सिद्धार्थ ने मानव जीवन को इनसे छुटकारा दिलाने का रास्ता ढूँढना चाहा।

Shuddhodan was the king of Kapilvastu. Siddharth was his son. Yashodhara was Siddharth’s wife and Rahul their son. Through his charioteer Chhandak, Siddhartha learned that no one can escape natural laws such as old age, disease, and death. Siddhartha wanted to find a way to free human life from these.

इसलिए वे एक दिन आधी रात को यशोधरा से कहते हैं कि वे इतने समय सोये हुए थे, पर अभी जग गये। सिद्धार्थ के विवेकपूर्ण बात सुनकर यशोधरा अपने को भाग्यवती समझती है। सूर्योदय के पहले सिद्धार्थ विदा लेते हैं। संसार को जगाने के लिए जाने लगते हैं।

Therefore one night at midnight, he tells Yashodhara that he had been asleep for so long, but now he has awakened. Hearing Siddhartha’s wise words, Yashodhara considers herself fortunate. Before sunrise, Siddhartha takes leave. He sets out to awaken the world.

सिद्धार्थ अपने सेवक छंदक के साथ कपिलवस्तु की सीमा तक पहुँच जाते हैं। छंदक के पास अपने राजसी वस्त्र को सौंपकर कहते हैं कि वे भिक्षुक बन गये हैं और उस क्षण से किसी से उनका संबंध नहीं है। छंदक के हाथों में अपने राजसी केश को कटवा लेते हैं। उसी स्थान पर भिक्षुक बन जाते हैं और सेवक छंदक से पहली भिक्षा माँगते हैं। छंदक रोते हुए चला जाता है। सिद्धार्थ अपने आप से यह कहकर आगे बढ़ते हैं कि जब तक जीवन की सच्चाई तथा निर्वाण संबंधी ज्ञान न मिले तब तक खोजते रहना है।

Siddhartha, with his servant Chhandak, reaches the boundary of Kapilvastu. Handing his royal garments to Chhandak, he says that he has become a mendicant and from that moment has no relationship with anyone. He gets his royal hair cut by Chhandak’s hands. In that very place he becomes a mendicant and asks the servant Chhandak for the first alms. Chhandak departs weeping. Siddharth moves ahead, saying to himself that until the truth of life and knowledge of nirvana are found, he must keep searching.
