| ज्यों निकलकर बादलों की गोद से थी अभी एक बूँद कुछ आगे बढ़ी। सोचने फिर-फिर यही जी में लगी, आह! क्यों घर छोड़कर मैं यों बढ़ी? दैव मेरे भाग्य में क्या है बदा, बह गयी उस काल एक ऐसी हवा लोग यों ही हैं झिझकते, सोचते — श्री अयोध्या सिंह उपाध्याय ‘हरिऔध’ |
Just as, coming out from the lap of the clouds, a drop had only just moved a little ahead. She began thinking again and again in her heart: “Ah! why, leaving home, did I move forward like this?” “O God, what is fixed in my fate? At that time such a wind began to blow— People, just like this, hesitate and keep thinking |

I. निम्नलिखित पद्यांश का भावार्थ हिन्दी में लिखिए
Write the meaning of the following passages in Hindi
- “दैव मेरे भाग्य में क्या है बदा,
मैं बचूँगी या मिलूँगी धूल में।
या जलूँगी फिर अंगारे पर किसी,
छू पडूँगी या कमल के फूल में”।
संदर्भ :- यह पद्यांश ‘एक बूँद’ नामक कविता से लिया गया है। इस कविता के कवि हैं श्री अयोध्या सिंह उपाध्याय ‘हरिऔध’।
भावार्थ :- बादलों की गोदी में से निकलकर एक बूँद बाहर आयी। उसने भगवान से पूछा कि उसके भाग्य में क्या लिखा है; वह बाहर निकलकर बच पायेगी या धूल में मिलकर मिट जायेगी? उसे मालूम नहीं कि वह अंगारे में पड़कर जल जायेगी या कमल के फूल के दलों पर गिर पड़ेगी? उसके नसीब में क्या लिखा है?
Context – This passage is taken from the poem “Ek Boond.” The poet of this poem is Shri Ayodhya Singh Upadhyay ‘Hariaudh’.
Explanation – A drop of water emerged from the lap of the clouds. It asked God what is written in its fate: will it survive, or mix with dust and be destroyed? It does not know whether it will fall upon an ember and burn, or fall on the petals of a lotus flower. What is written in its destiny?
- “लोग यों ही हैं झिझकते सोचते
जब कि उनको छोड़ना पड़ता है घर
किन्तु घर का छोड़ना अक्सर उन्हें
बूँद सा कुछ और ही देता है कर”।
संदर्भ :- यह पद्यांश ‘एक बूँद’ नामक कविता से लिया गया है। इस कविता के कवि हैं श्री अयोध्या सिंह उपाध्याय ‘हरिऔध’।
भावार्थ :- इन पंक्तियों में कवि यह कहना चाहते हैं कि लोग अपना घर छोड़कर बाहर निकलते समय हिचकते हैं, डरते हैं। लेकिन उनको डरने की आवश्यकता नहीं है क्योंकि उनको यह विश्वास होना चाहिए कि वे इस बूँद की तरह अच्छी जगह जाकर उत्कृष्ट बन सकते हैं।

Explanation – In these lines, the poet wants to say that people hesitate and fear when they leave their homes. But they need not fear because they should believe that they, like this drop, can go to a better place and become great.

Answer the following questions
1. बूँद बादलों की गोद से निकलकर क्या सोचती है? (What does the drop think after leaving the lap of the clouds?)
उत्तर – बादलों की गोद में से निकलकर बूँद यह सोचती है कि वह कहाँ जानेवाली है और वह अपने आप को बचा पायेगी या मिट जायेगी।
Answer – After leaving the lap of the clouds, the drop thinks where she is going, and whether she will be able to save herself or be destroyed.
2. कवि बूँद के भाग्य का वर्णन कैसे करते हैं? (How does the poet describe the drop’s fate?)
उत्तर – बूँद अपने भाग्य पर बहुत चिंतित है और सोचती है कि उसका भाग्य अच्छा है या बुरा? वह अच्छी जगह पहुँच पायेगी या बुरी जगह जाकर फँस जायेगी।
Answer – The drop is very worried about her fate and thinks whether her fate is good or bad; will she reach a good place or get trapped in a bad place.
3. ‘बूँद’ कैसे मोती बन जाती है? (How does the drop become a pearl?)
उत्तर – बूँद अपना रास्ता खोजते-खोजते गयी। अचानक हवा तेज़ बहने लगी और बूँद उस बहाव में समुद्र के एक सीप के खुले मुँह में जाकर गिरी और मोती बन गयी।
Answer – The drop kept searching for her path. Suddenly the wind began to blow fast, and in that current the drop fell into the open mouth of a shell in the sea and became a pearl.
4. ‘एक बूँद’ कविता का उद्देश्य क्या है? (What is the purpose/message of the poem “Ek Boond”?)
उत्तर – मनुष्य को आशावादी होना चाहिए। यही इस कविता का उद्देश्य है।
Answer – A person should be optimistic. This is the purpose of this poem.

बादलों की गोद में से निकलकर पानी की एक बूँद आगे बढ़ी और बार-बार सोचने लगी कि वह क्यों घर से बाहर निकली।
After coming out from the lap of the clouds, a drop of water moved ahead and kept thinking again and again why she came out of the house.
वह भगवान से पूछती है कि वह बच पाएगी या धूल बनकर मिट्टी में समा जायेगी। वह पूछती है कि वह अंगारे में पड़कर जल जायेगी या कमल के फूल के दलों पर गिर पड़ेगी।
She asks God whether she will survive or will turn into dust and sink into the soil. She asks whether she will fall into the embers and burn or land on the petals of a lotus flower.
उस समय एक ऐसी हवा बहने लगी जिससे वह बूँद अनायास ही समुद्र में जाकर गिर पड़ी। समुद्र में एक सुन्दर सीप का मुँह खुला था और वह बूँद उसी सीप में जाकर गिर पड़ी और वह मोती बन गयी।
At that moment, a breeze began blowing, causing the drop to accidentally fall into the ocean. In the sea the mouth of a beautiful shell was open, and the drop went and fell into that very shell and became a pearl.
कवि कहते हैं कि बहुत लोग ऐसे हैं जो घर से निकलते समय झिझकते हैं, डरते हैं। लेकिन घर छोड़कर, धीरज होकर बाहर जाने से, वे बूँद की तरह मोती (महान व्यक्ति) भी बन सकते हैं।
The poet says that many people hesitate and fear to leave their homes. But by leaving home and going out with patience, they can become pearls (great people) like the drop.
